Why Animex® fencing?

The only purpose-built wildlife fencing products for reptiles, amphibians and small mammals.

Working for over a decade within the construction and conservation industries we have helped many non-government and government organizations to design, install, monitor and maintain effectively wildlife fencing and mitigations solutions on a comprehensive range of projects.

All our fencing products and installation guides are scientifically tested and adhere to environmental regulatory policy across the USA. We are committed to reducing wildlife mortality and the restoration of fragmented wildlife habitats.

We understand animal behavior

Wildlife exclusion fencing has been used for many years to exclude and control the movement of wildlife around construction sites, roads, utilities and other infrastructure. Animex fencing has been proven to be an effective mitigation tool for long and short-term projects.

As wildlife biologists we understand the key to an effective fence is understanding how the animals who will interact with it behave. Without understanding animals you are at risk of installing fencing that is dangerous, in effective and costly. This has been seen too often with the use of cheap construction materials such as shade-cloth, plastic mesh, silt fencing and hardware cloth all being used for a purpose they weren’t designed for.

Animex fencing has been designed for wildlife and built to last since 2010.

Built to last.

Our range of temporary (AMX-T) and semi permanent (AMX-SP) fencing is made from highly durable recycled plastic. High Density Polyethylene has been proven to be extremely durable and robust in even the most extreme environments making it the perfect budget friendly material choice for your project. In fact, 365,000 milk bottles are saved from landfill per mile of fencing we make!

Our range of permanent fencing is made from a unique non-corrosive metal alloy and considered the ultimate wildlife fencing solution.

Tests have shown all our products withstands the most extreme environments and require little to no maintenance compared to perishable mesh and traditional fencing alternatives.

We and others have shown in other studies (Ruby et al. 1994, MilburnRodr.guez et al. 2016, Chapter 6) that animals interact with transparent fencing with behaviors such as poking, attempting to climb, and moving back and forth. Higher energy and time expenditures of these behaviors may have negative impacts on breeding success (Carr 2011, Navas et al. 2016).

Our results provide evidence that herpetofauna are more likely to interact with the transparent and semitransparent fences by poking it with their noses, pacing back and forth, and attempting to climb. The transparent and semitransparent fencing types used in this study are not only see through but are permeable to the movement of air. Because sight and chemoreception senses are typically well developed in reptiles, it is not clear to what extent these different senses are driving fence interaction behaviors. However, animals exhibiting these behaviors appear to be trying to find a way through the fence to the other side.

We (Chapter 5), and others (Ruby et al. 1994, MilburnRodr.guez et al. 2016) have shown that animals spend more time interacting with fencing that they can see and smell through (e.g. poking, back and forth movements, climbing).

We observed this in the turnaround study as well, as lizards, snakes and small mammals spent increased amounts of time in transparent/permeable and semitransparent/ permeable turnarounds than solid turnarounds.

Why Animex?

Our extensive range of wildlife fencing products was developed from our passion to safeguard wildlife while meeting the environmental needs of our growing industries. Animex™ was designed by Professional Wildlife Biologists to be the most effective, cost-saving solution on the market. In part, the savings are amplified by its reusability across multiple projects. No other fence on the market provides these types of savings.

The Problem

Historically, the construction industry lacked products specifically designed to safely exclude wildlife. As a stopgap solution, silt and mesh fencing were used for this purpose but were ineffective and manufactured without the species in mind. Animals easily climb silt and mesh fencing and they do not hold up to vegetation maintenance. They are quickly degraded by UV exposure, weathering, and normal wear and tear of construction activities. This results in out-of-compliance conditions and increased risks of injury to listed and sensitive species.

The Solution

Animex wildlife exclusion fencing provides a simple, safe, and effective solution that guarantees environmental compliance and reduces the risk to listed and sensitive species. Try Animex! We’re confident you’ll be pleased with its performance, durability, and cost-savings over the length of your project.

Initial Costs & Long-Term Savings

Since Animex wildlife exclusion fencing (WEF) is manufactured as a solid product, there is inherently more material than comparative mesh fencing; thereby, there may be an incremental increase in up-front materials cost. However, our fence requires virtually no maintenance, which translates into significant cost savings throughout the life of the project, e.g. minimal ongoing labor and materials costs. Animex fencing also stands up to weed-whacking using professional grade equipment – NO TEARS, NO REPAIRS!

Reusable & Recyclable

Animex fencing is made from recycled and recycle materials and are durable enough to be reused from project to project. This provides significant cost savings as it avoids the need to purchase fencing for every project. Our proven installation and removal methods ensures our customers are able to reuse the fencing again and again. At the end of their lifespan, Animex products can be recycled and made into new products. We are proud to say that Animex fencing stops plastic milk bottles from going to landfill. In fact, 365,000 milk bottles are saved per mile of AMX-T and AMX-SP fencing we make!

GUARANTEE & LIFESPAN

The only wildlife fencing with a guarantee! Our guarantees cover the minimum expected lifespan of our products and in reality they are expected to last much longer. Significant studies on HDPE have proven its UV resistance and non-corrosive properties enable it to last for decades and studies on the unique metal alloy for our AMX-XP has shown suitability for up to 100 years in some circumstances.
